455,769. Vehicle roofs. FLEMMING, H., 63a, Fischerhuttenstrasse, Zehlendorf, Berlin. May 4, 1936, No. 12630. Convention date, May 9, 1935. [Class 103 (i)] In motor-cars having a cover or lid for a rear compartment which may serve for rear seats or as a luggage compartment the lid or cover is adapted to be raised into position to form the roof of the car, and a flexible or rigid rear wall connected to the rear edge of the cover, covers the emergency or rear seats. As shown the rear end of the lid a is carried by a pair of arms c pivoted to the body at d and when erected the front end of the lid a is secured to the wind screen. The rear edge of the lid a is provided with a flexible or rigid rear wall k or k<1> adapted to collapse or fold into the rear compartment or a recess behind the rear seats. As shown the lid may in one position be turned over to act as a luggage carrier a<2>. The lid a may be provided with means for latching it to the doors or to the windscreen.
