Abstract
460,261. Vehicle - window frames. REID, J. S. March 30, 1936, No. 9460. [Class 20 (iii)] A blank B for forming the core of a flexible guide channel for slidable glass panels such as the windows of motor vehicles, comprises a metal strip having its edges and mid-portion formed with longitudinally spaced slots 2, 3, 4, the slots 4 in the mid-portion being separated from the open-ended slots 2, 3 in the edge portions by parallel portions 6. Alternatively, the core may comprise a series of parallel spaced-apart elements of approximately W- shape, welded, or otherwise secured to two longitudinal metal strips. The blank is bent into a form such as that shown in enlarged scale in Fig. 3, coated with rubber 15, and provided with cushioning strips 16, 17, which engage the edge portions of the pane E, and the flexibility of the channel enables it to be bent readily around the curved corners of a window opening.
