Abstract
447,274. Vehicle window frames. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.- (Reid, J. S. ; 14122, South Park Boulevard, Shaker Heights, Ohio, U.S.A.) Nov. 12, 1934, No. 32583. [Class 20 (iii)] The base 15 of a channelshaped sheet-metal runway of a vehicle window 5 is bent at 40 and the side walls 16 are severed from the base adjacent and above the bend and are also bent, as shown, to accommodate the front sloping edge of the window. Means, such as a supplementary frame 36, is provided to maintain the side walls and base in fixed relation to each other. The runway channel may, with the exception of its longitudinal beads 17 have a covering layer 20 of vulcanized rubber, and its base and window-engaging flanges 18 may also be provided with felt pads 21, 22. The lower portion 50 of the supplementary frame fits closely around the window channel as shown in Fig. 5, with its beads 52 gripping those of the window channel. The centre portion is of gradually increasing depth, while the upper portion is of uniform depth. This upper portion is formed by severing the side walls from the base, bending the base at 40, and then folding the inner edge portions 43 of the side walls around the back of the base. An extension 46 of the base may be folded as shown to grip the portions 43. As shown in Figs. 2 and 6, the beaded edges 37 of the centre and upper portions of the supplementary frame are adapted to grip the beaded edge 17 of the window runway or channel. Tongues 42 may be pressed out of the side wall of the frame to engage with and grip the base 15.
