Abstract
799,964. Removing condensation water from sashes. WELSBY, R. H. Dec. 7, 1956 [Sept. 23, 1955], No. 27147/55. Addition to 716,833. Class 20(3) . Means for conducting away condensation water when it runs down the interior surface e.g. of a window pane 10, comprises an L-section duct 2, 3 formed from a flat backing strip 1 made preferably of plastic, or of metal, and bent to form two links 6, 7 which have placed against them, or stuck thereto, the limbs 4, 5 of a correspondingly shaped corrugated aluminium, or brass, strip so that drainage passageways 14, 15 are formed respectively in the two limbs of the duct. The limbs 4, 5 of the upper metal strip, which may consist of separately formed strips, have clearances 8. in their corrugated portions so that the duct can be bent. The outer edge of the limb 5 of the upper corrugated strip is bent over a drip bead 21 on the corresponding edge of the limb 7 of the backing strip 1, the opposite edge of which has an extended lip 23. The duct is secured at 25, in a glazing rebate 19 in a sill 9 of a window frame, the pane 10 being secured by tags 24 pressed up from the corrugations 17 on the limb 5 of the upper strip and by putty 20 which keys into indentations 11 between the corrugations 17. The passages 14 between the indentations 13 on the limb 4 of the upper strip communicate, through openings 18, provided by the clearances 8, with the passages 15 in the limb 3 of the duct. The horizontal limb 7 of the backing strip 1 may be of diminishing thickness towards the outer edge to provide an inclined surface to the passageways 15 and assist drainage.
