Abstract

1,217,261. Dougle glazing. J. I. GRAY. 11 March, 1969 [20 March, 1968], No. 13547/68. Heading E1R. A single glazed window frame 1 with pane 2 is converted to a double glazed window by means of a frame member 5 of e.g. extruded aluminium and having an edge 10, shown as of solid T-seotion which is secured to the existing pane 2 by adhesive and has a channel 11 to receive the marginal portion of an additional pane 4. The channel 11 has springy yieldable edges 12 to accommodate panes of various thicknesses and the strip 5 may be solid or hollow as shown. In an alternative construction the pant 10 may be replaced by a channel 6, Fig. 2 to receive adhesive 8 for securing it to the existing pane 2. The additional pane may be attached to the existing pane before assembly of the latter in its frame or after assembly. A tube 9 may be inserted through the base 5 for excavating or otherwise treating the space between the panes.
