Abstract

Hoods. - In road vehicles having permanent side frames and a closable operation in the roof, the latter is closed by means of a flexible cover mounted on a spring roller and supported by means of hoop sticks which are interconnected by one or two " lazytongs " arrangements of links. As shown, the hoop sticks 3 are connected by " lazy-tongs " 4 having ends 5 sliding in slots 6 in the hoop sticks 3, springs 7 being also provided to assist the hoop sticks to be extended. The cover 12 is mounted on a spring roller arranged at the rear of the top which, if it is to be folded down as shown in Fig. 1, is provided with a cant rail divided at 20. The front hoop stick is connected to the front windscreen pillars 8 by means of an angleiron 10 and screw 9. If desired, the " lazytongs " arrangement may be duplicated and operated by means of transverse screws.
