Abstract

302,058. Smith, N. W. Dec. 19,1927. Luggage racks. - In a luggage-grid for motor vehicles of the kind comprising two sections A B, relatively hinged or foldable about a transverse intermediate bar or tube c, the co-operating elements of the hinge are constituted by longitudinal body strips d, j of the respective sections of the grid, these strips having their upper surfaces flush with the upper edges of the outer frame members a, b, h, i of the grid and being coiled at their inner ends f, l around the intermediate bar or tube c. In the construction shown the entire grid is adapted to slide within anti-friction brackets o as described in Specification 282,568, while in a. modification the grid is adapted to pivot as a whole on supporting brackets on the chassis into a vertical inoperative position.
