Abstract

337,987. Thurgood, W. L., and Perkins, K. Nov. 12, 1929. Hoods.-In road vehicles having roofs provided with one or more longitudinally hinged flaps adapted to be opened and closed the flaps are operated by means of handles from within the body. As shown the closing means comprise two sets of flaps 10, 11, 12 each set consisting of two leaves hinged together and to the cant rails 7, 8 at 14. The extreme ends of the inner leaves are provided with rollers 18 adapted to run on runways 19 at the ends of the opening. The fixed side portions 3, 4, are concave to accommodate the leaves when folded by means of the handles 21. Strips 28, 29, 30 are provided to exclude weather.
