Abstract

260,433. Standard Motor Co., Ltd., and Maudslay, R. W. Dec. 5, 1925. Hoods. - Closed vehicle bodies of the kind having a sliding rcof portion or hatch are provided at each lateral edge with a rubber strip adapted to bear resiliently on the flange of the hatch and yet permit relative sliding. Fig. 1 shows the hatch 4 provided with a flange 5 embracing a longitudinal T-shape member 3, a rubber strip 6 gripping the member 3 being interposed. In modifications a flange 10, may slide in a groove Fig. 2, on the hatch or recessed portion of the block 7 secured to the top 2 of the sides, a rubber strip 6 overhanging the flange, or the block 7 and strip 6 may be combined as a rubber strip or two rubber strips secured to the top 2 may embrace a T-shape flange on the hatch. Fig. 7 shows the joint between the hatch top and the front cross-member 20 of the car, a flange 22 impinging on the rubber strip 21 secured to the cross-member, 20 while Fig. 8 shows the closure at the back of the hatch, rubber strips 27 being secured to flanges 24, 26 carried by the hatch 4 and body 25 respectively. Draining grooves and channels may be provided.
