Abstract
194,268. Curtis, C. G. Feb. 28, 1922, [Convention date]. Motor power plant.-The exhaust valve 27 of an internal-combustion engine opens early on the compression stroke, so that the exhaust is at high pressure and compressed air is admitted through the valve at the cylinder head at this end of the expansion stroke, and during a part of the return stroke of the piston so that exhaust takes place to about half way on the compression stroke. The exhaust is used to drive a turbocompressor 25, 15, which supplies the compressed air. The invention may be applied to engines with two pistons acted on by a single impulse.
