Abstract

Motor power plant.- An internal - combustion engine 1 is coupled by gearing 22, 21 to the shaft of a turbine 23, 24 which is supplied with explosion and exhaust gases, and also with steam from the water-jacket 12. On explosion the engine combustion chamber 3, which has an inlet valve 9, discharges a portion of the gases through a spring-loaded a valve 5, a superheater 13, and another spring- loaded valve 18 to the high and low pressure stages 23, 24 of the turbine. Steam from the jacket and superheater is led bv a pipe 27 to the same stages. On the exhaust stroke of the piston 2 the valve 10 opens and discharges the exhaust gases into the low-pressure stage 24. A pivoted stop 15 holds the valve 5 closed on starting.
