Abstract

347,118. Motor power plant. REUGE, H., St. Croix, Vaud, Switzerland. Jan. 21, 1930, No. 2141. Convention date, March 15, 1929. [Class 110 (iii).] Relates to plant in which a turbine is driven by the exhaust gases of a reciprocating internalcombustion engine. The Figure shows a two-stroke cycle double-acting internal-combustion engine 3 having a single exhaust port 4 communicating with two exhaust pipes leading to the nozzle-ring 12 of a turbine 14. Cam-operated valves 8, 9 and hand-operated valves 10, 11 are provided. The actuation of the valve 8 is controlled by a device 24 responsive to the pressure in the induction pipe 16. The exhaust turbine drives the charging compresser and compressed air is supplied by a pipe 20. The pipes 16, 20 may be connected together.
