Abstract
257,264. Nordensson, T. K. A. Aug. 19, 1925, [Convention date]. Generating combustion products under pressure. -Two compressor pistons are connected with the pistons of a double-acting internal-combustion engine and a compression stroke is obtained for each engine stroke, the compression pistons operating in separate cylinders. The air compressed may be wholly used for combustion and scavenging in the engine, or air may be compressed in one cylinder for these purposes and in a second cylinder for other purposes. The exhaust gases may drive a turbine. Compressor pistons a, b are directly connected to engine pistons c, d and to each other. The engine works on the twostroke cycle and its cylinders receive air from one of the compressor cylinders through pipes h. i. The exhaust gases may drive a turbine j, or pass to other consumers or to atmosphere through branches q, r. The fuel may be sprayed into the engine cylinders through nozzles s, t, or a carburettor u may deliver a fuel mixture to a compressor cylinder and so to the engine, spark plugs being provided. In either arrangement, ignition may take place by compression.
