Abstract

Working-fluid supply; cooling parts.-Diametrically-o p p o s e d pockets a in the conical periphery of the rotor B, in which explosions are timed to take place simultaneously, are permanently connected by pipes to avoid unbalanced pressures due to asynchronous explosions. The pockets receive an explosive mixture from one of pipes 5, 5<1>, the explosion is effected when the prokets register with recesses 1, 1<1>, and expansion takes place as the pockets reach recesses 2, 3, 4 and 2<1>, 3<1>, 4<1>. Two circular spring-pressed members engage grooves on either side of the pockets in the rotor and the stator to prevent leakage. The engine is water-cooled through passages b, c in the rotor, and passages d, e in the stator, supplied through pipes h from the hollow rotating shaft. Explosive mixture is supplied to the admission pipes 5, 5 by pumps 10, 12 actuated from the rotor shaft.
