Abstract
149,600. Russell, M. B. April 15, 1920. Working-fluid supply.-In a rotary internalcombustion engine of the fixed-abutment type, with piston having outwardly-sliding vanes, fluid is admitted behind the vanes, through a circumferential port in the flat face of the casing. The fluid is compressed, and transferred to spaces between the vanes, where it is further compressed and exploded. The rotor 2 is eccentrically mounted within the casing 1, and carries vanes 6 which slide in slots 5. The vanes are fitted with rocking shoes 7, and have slots 11 carrying pins 12 which project into the cam-groove 13, formed in and concentric with the casing. Fluid is admitted through the circumferential port 19<a> to the slots 5 where it is compressed as the rotor revolves. It is transferred through the channels 22 and 24 to the space E, in which it is further compressed and is fired at A.
