Fixed-abutment type; packing drums etc.; working-fluid supply. - In a rotary internal-combustion engine having a number of sliding vanes h, h<1>, operating in one or more combustion chambers b<1>, the inner end of each vane is used to suck in and compress the charge for the other vane. Thus, the vane h draws in a charge from the rotor chamber l past the valve k, and compresses it past the valve k<1> into the rotor chamber l<1>, which delivers it by a duct j to a recess p and cavity p<1> in the vane h<1>, where it is ignited by the plug s in the chamber b<1>. Similarly, the vane h<1> delivers a compressed charge to the vane h. Exhaust takes place through a port r. The rotor a is provided with packing strips a<1> and rings t. A series of rotors may be keyed to one shaft, and connected in series. Springs q may be employed to force out the vanes, or air cushioning or cams may be used instead.
