Fixed-abutment type; cooling parts; valves, cut-off; working-fluid supply.-Fig. 4 shows a cross-section of an internal-combustion engine of the hinged-vane type having two abutments and three 3-bladed hinged piston members, which are moved into appropriate positions by levers on their spindles coacting with cams on the casing. The cylinder 7 is fitted into the casing 1 so that circumferential and end water spaces are provided. A charge is admitted to each pocket 26 through a port in the end wall of the cylinder and a corresponding pocket in an adjustable end disk, and is compressed by the blade 38 moving into the position shown in the lower part of. the Figure. When the blades are in this position, the charge is admitted through a valve passage 42 into the space between the blade 37 and the fixed abutment. When the blade 37 moves into the operative position, it pushes outwards spring- pressed plungers and makes an electric circuit to produce a spark at the plug 67 situated in a recess in the fixed abutment. The products escape through ports 63.
