Abstract

Fixed-abutment type; working-fluid supply.- The drum 17 of an explosion engine has outwardly sliding spring-pressed vanes 22, and works in a casing 1 having a compression space 13, an explosion chamber 4, and a working chamber 15. The casing is water jacketed. The mixture enters from the carburettor at 33, is forced into the chamber 4 at 12, is sparked by a plug 16, and passes by the port 14 and expansion chamber 15 to the exhaust 35. The chamber 4 has cam operated inlet and outlet valves. A magneto is fitted. The casing contains two engine sections side by side having the piston vanes in planes at right-angles. The exhaust may be used in an engine of the same type having four vanes.
