Abstract
496,725. Two-stroke-cycle engines. DIXON, F. W. June 1, 1937, No. 15251. [Class 7 (ii)] In a two-stroke engine having opposed pistons 13, 14 in cylinders around a shaft 1 driven through swash-plates 3, 4, the cylinders surround a casing 9, 10 in which is housed a blower of the eccentric vane type driven by the shaft 1. Pistons 13 control exhaust ports 25 and pistons 14 control inlet ports 24. One of the swash-plates may be angularly disposed with respect to the other plate so that the exhaust ports are uncovered before the inlet ports. The blower draws in mixture through a port 39 and discharges it through a port 40 into an annular chamber 41 surrounding the inlet ports 24. Cooling water is supplied to the spaces 29 by a pump 27.
