Abstract

459,808. Rotary engines. CHKLIAR, J., 17, Square Coghen, Brussels. Oct. 24, 1935, No. 29403. [Class 110 (ii)] A rotary internal-combustion engine having a rotor 2 and sliding vanes 10<1>, which are controlled by rollers 13 in a cam groove 14, is provided with rotary admission valves 191 to admit compressed air from an external compressor, which may be driven by the engine. A disc on the shaft 3 has projections which periodically engage the ends of pivoted links to turn the valves 19<1>. Fuel is injected and the gases expand in each working chamber 8, and are exhausted through a port 25. A packing bar 17 is provided on each vane, or, alternatively, a cap with a socket to fit over a spherical vane tip. A piston fuel pump is driven from the shaft 3 by means of a worm and worm-wheel gearing. Fig. 4 shows an engine in which air compressed in the chamber 33 enters one side of a rotary valve 35, is mixed with fuel and ignited, and is afterwards admitted as a working fluid to behind the vanes in the chamber 34. The engine may operate on the Diesel principle.
