Abstract

138,176. Johnston, N. Feb. 13, 1919. Movable-abutment type.-A movable-abutment type of rotary internal-combustion engine comprises a rotor A having a piston A<2> and two scavenging-vanes A<3>, A<4>. The explosive mixture is compressed by pistons E<3>, E<4> operated by eccentricts A<5>, and is exploded at F<1>, the oscillating valve D<4> acting as abutment, and exhaust taking place at B<1>. The vanes A<3>, A<4> meanwhile sweep the burnt gases from the previous stroke through the exhaust B<2>. The operation is repeated when the piston has passed the valve D<3>.
