Abstract

381,193. Turbines. SNOWDON, F. SEATON-, 147, Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton. April 1, 1931, No. 9817. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (iii).] An internal-combustion turbine comprises two concentric oppositely rotating cylindrical or conical rotors with inclined slots forming the blade passages, the outer rotor periphery closing the inlet nozzles when the slots are not in register. The motive fluid is fed through a rotary valve to the combustion chamber and after firing passes directly to the nozzles. The ignition magneto, timing gear, and motive fluid pump are driven from the main shaft through variable gearing so that the rate of firing may be varied. The two rotors are geared to run at the same angular speed.
