Abstract

619,173. Gas turbine plant. MIDDLETON, V. H. Nov. 25, 1946, Nos. 34845/46 and 18573/47. [Class 110 (iii)] A compressor 12 delivers air to combustion chambers 6 through ducts 13 and the products of combustion are discharged through ducts 9. The ducts 9 and 13 are opened at timed intervals determined by rotary disc valves 7, 10. Fuel is admitted intermittently by means of an injector 15 and ignition is by sparking-plugs 17. The disc valves are carried by a sleeve shaft 4 driven through gearing 14. The combustion products pass into a chamber 20 and issue therefrom through nozzles 21. The turbines are of usual axial flow type, the turbine wheel 23 driving the compressor and shaft 4 and the turbine 24 providing useful power. Secondary air is admitted to the combustion chambers 6 through holes 19.
