610,973. Gas turbines. ADAMS, T. HAMILTON-. April 18, 1946, No. 11938. [Class 110 (iii)] A gas turbine plant comprises an axial flow turbine and an air compressor driven thereby, the air and fuel supplies being so regulated that carbon monoxide is formed in a first combustion chamber located between the compressor and turbine and carbon dioxide is formed in a further combustion chamber located after the turbine. The turbine and compressor may be mounted on a common shaft. Ignition is by compression in the first combustion chamber and by hot wire or sparking-plug in the second combustion chamber. The exhaust from the turbine may be used for jet propulsion, in which case water may be injected into or after the second combustion chamber. According to the Provisional Specification, the compressor is of the axial flow type. Specification 567,560, [Group XXVII], is referred to.
