Abstract

346,108. Motor power plant. SIEMENS-SHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Feb. 24, 1930, No. 6091. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1929. [Class 110 (iii).] In a plant comprising a gas turbine T driven by the exhaust of an internal combustion engine U, regulation is effected by varying the supply of fuel and/or air to the internalcombustion engine. In Fig. 3 the motor units are mechanically coupled, and a speed governor F controls the fuel admission valve V of the unit U. It may also control the suction valve A of the air compressor K which supplies the engine U. The valve A may be controlled by the pressure conditions in the supply pipe b of the turbine T as shown in Fig. 5, or by a speed governor driven by the engine U. As shown in Fig. 5, the power units need not be coupled together. A governor-controlled safety valve for excessive speeds, or a valve for the prevention of excessive reduction of pressure, may be arranged in the connecting pipe b.
