Abstract

596,541. Rotary internal-combustion engines. BAXTER, E. G. July 30, 1945, No. 19430. [Class 110 (ii)] , A rotor 9 has an odd number of radially, or tangentially, sliding vanes 8, and radial slots, acting as admission and exhaust ducts for the gases, which co-operate with arcuate inlet and outlet ports in rotary valves, 10, 11 moving at a slightly different speed from that of the.rotor. The valves are driven through gearing 13, 14, 16, 17, from the main shaft 3. When radial vanes are used, they are provided with legs co-acting with cams 7 on the stator parts 6. End packing devices may be used on the vanes. A sparking-plug or compression-ignition may be used. A water jacket or fins may be used for cooling the engine
