Variablespeed gearing.-The invention described in the parent Specification comprises two gears corresponding to the gears 6, 7 loose on a driven shaft 2 and adapted to be slid thereon so as to be brought alternatively into engagement with a double clutch corresponding to clutch 3 secured to the shaft 2. These gears are driven by direct engagement and through a single idler respectively from a pinion such as 15 fast upon a driving shaft 16. One improvement consists in making one set of clutch teeth 5 external to engage internal teeth on the gear 6. Another improvement consists in replacing the single idler by an idler with steps 10, 11 meshing with the gears 6, 7, respectively, which are driven at different speeds in the same direction.
