Abstract
178,294. Hofmann, A. March 18, 1921. Cutting slices in succcession.-An appliance for slicing foodstuff comprises a plate a, bent upwards to form a handle b and downwards to form lateral flanges h, and vertical guides d, having elongated slots g in which work the bolts f carrying the knife e having a cutting-edge e<1>. The plate a is also bent upwards at k to form a shield for the knife e. The appliance, after adjustment of the knife e, is placed over the article to be sliced so that the plate a rests on the article, which lies between the flanges h, and is pulled by the handle b. Thumb-screws are provided on the bolts f for securing the knife e in any desired position, and scales on the guides d indicate the slice thickness. In a modification, provision is made for altering the cutting-angle of the knife by rotating it about a longitudinal axis.
