Cutting and slicing vegetables &c.-The article to be cut, such as a potato, is placed in a box a provided with knives f, preferably in pairs, arranged in a V-shape converging towards the bottom. The blades are set at a slight angle to the vertical to give a good clearance to the piece cut off the potato. The potatoes are forced on the knives by a member g reciprocating on guides h and actuated through a link j from a handoperated bell-crank lever n. A spring p is attached to an extra arm m on the bell-crank lever this arm being provided with a spoon shaped extension o that engages the spring p and so cushions the retraction of the member g.
