631,189. Cutting and slicing vegetables. LIPS, T. R. Nov. 26. 1946, No. 35067 Convention date, Nov. 28, 1945. [Class 5(i)] Onions placed in a tray 2 in a cylindrical container 1 are sliced by vertical knives 6 which are reversibly mounted in a holder 7. A split ring 8 in a peripheral groove retains the knives: A slotted rotatable plate 5 guides the blades and clears them of sliced material on their upward movement. The holder 7 is mounted on a stem 11 and is depressed against the action of a springer 26 by a hand lever 23. A stirrup 21 is attached to a collar 19 engaging a groove on the stem 11 whereby the knives may be turned to cut at different angles. For effecting this adjustment a handle 12 engages the stem 11 through 'a ball-clutch 13.
