741,222. Cutting onions &c. CUPPER, O. May 30, 1951 [June 28, 1950], No. 12769/51. Class 5 (1). Strips, slices or cubes are cut off from the bottom of an onion 4 &c. by cutters 5, 5<SP>1</SP> and 6 mounted to project above a bottom rotated plate, the cutters 5 making arcuate cuts after which the onion hopper is rotated through 90 degrees whereby the cutters 5<SP>1</SP> make other arcuate cuts at 90 degrees and finally the cutter 6 slices off the projecting stumps to make cubes. A lug ensures that the onion rotates with the hopper. When strips or slices only are desired the cutters 5<SP>1</SP> and/or the cutters 5 are turned down by handle 17 within the plate to inoperative position. The cut strips &c. are received in a collecting receptacle 19 secured by clips 20 and sealed by a ring 21. Specification 741,275 is referred to.
