Gherkins &c. are sliced by being placed in the vertical holes 32, Fig. 6, of a rotary table 18 which carries them round against a vertical series of interfaced V shaped cutters 47. The gherkins are also sliced from top to bottom as they are carried round in the holes against vertieal cutters 40, 44, Figs. 8 and 9.
