Abstract

Cutting slices in succession. - In a slicing- machine having a disc knife and a reciprocating carriage, a meat carrier is slidable on a guide shaft at one side of the carriage and may be hinged upward on the shaft to enable the space between the carrier and the carriage to be cleaned. As shown in Fig. 1, the carriage 2 is reciprocated across the knife 3, the slice feed being effected by a lever 9 having a segmental gear 10 which meshes with a pinion 11 on the feed screw to which the meat carrier is coupled by a nut segment vertically movable for engagement and disengagement by a cam-ended handle 15. The lever 9 is engaged by an adjustable stop 8. The meat carrier comprises a platform 4 having bearings 6, preferably split for adjustment by screws 24, which are slidable and revoluble on the guide shaft 5. The clamp bar 17 is supported at one side of the platform 4 on one or two posts. As a screw 21. The bar 17 is pivoted to the sleeve shown. two posts 18, 19 are used, a split sleeve member 20 being slidable thereon and locked by 20 and is forked to receive the sleeve. The forked end has curved slots 23 whereby the bar 17 is locked in its adjusted position by a screw 22. An upstanding flange 16 on the carriage 2 at the side remote from the posts 18, 19 holds the meat against the cutting pressure and prevents the formation of non-uniform slices.
