Abstract

549,444. Cutting machines. GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. July 20. 1942, No. 10076. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1941. [Class 31 (i)] Rubber &c. stock A is cut by a knife 10 heated by a heating element 11 and is progressively flexed by presser bars 33 as the cutting proceeds. The stock is supported on a table 2 slotted at 16 to accommodate a narrow movable cutting bed 17 located under the stationary knife 10 on either side of which are the presser bars 33 carried by rods 35 slidable in guides 36 and adapted to be variously loaded by weights 40 in a pan 39. The cutting bed 17 is raised to effect the cutting by means of a hand crank and pinion engaging a rack on the cutting bed.
