Abstract

271,185. Turner, W. T. Dec. 3, 1926. Slicing vegetables &c.-Fruits placed in the open ends of cylinders 4 are fed up to blades 12 extending from a shaft 7 rotated by a handle 11 bv followers 6 carried by a sliding frame 17 adapted to be clutched by a halfnut 18 to a screw-thread 23 on an extension of the shaft 7. The nut may be thrown into or out of engagement with the screw-thread by a handle 22 operating an eccentric. Springs 24 hold the handle in either the " in " or " out " position. A stop 25 automatically moves the handle to the " out " position when the followers 6 reach the end of the cylinders. A spring 27 moves the frame 17 to its outer position when the half-nut is lifted from the screw. The device is clamped to a table by a screw 3 and the cut slices are discharged through a. shoot 15. A casing 13, 14 surrounds the knives. In a modification three or more cylinders are used.
