Abstract

161,982. Schaefer, J. April 22, 1920, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Spray carburettors.-Rich mixture formed in a chamber 30 is added to the secondary air in a rotary valve 17, which controls the secondary air entering through the ports 18, 20 and also the rich mixture through the ports 28, 28<1>. The ports 20, 28 are formed in a cylindrical liner 19 of the body 1. A central passage 29 allows mixture to pass when the main ports are closed, the passage being controllable by a screw 27. The nozzle 10 has at its lower end a plate with a restricted orifice 8, the well 9 between the orifice and jet opening acting as a reservoir for starting. The primary air supply is controlled by the rotatable plate 22, which has passages 22<1> corresponding to the air admission ports 19'. The fuel jet is broken up by an opposing stream of air entering through the hollow adjustable screw 23. The petrol supply pipe 14, Fig. 2, to the float chamber is formed into a ring, which screws into the tube 16 and is held in place by a cap 15. The float is of cork.
