Abstract

1386433 Non-metallic springs CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE AG 26 April 1972 [29 April 1971] 19265/72 Heading F2S A resulient mounting for a vehicle engine has a coaxial sleeve 3 and collar 4, two rubber bushes 1, 2 threaded on the sleeve 3 being spaced from one another initially and each having a face in contact with a flange 5 of the collar, the overall axial extent of the bushes being such that their ends project beyond the ends of the sleeve 3 ; there are also plates 13, 14 held at the sleeve ends by a nut and bolt 16, 15, the plates resting on the ends of the bushes 1, 2 until the nut is tightened to draw the plates on to the sleeve and stress the bushes substantially to close the space between them as shown. The initial space between the bushes 1, 2 may be such that, when the plates 13, 14 are tight on the sleeve ends, the bushes make heavy contact with each other, or light contact, or are still separated. To prevent overstressing about the sleeve 3 annular recesses 17, 18 are provided in the interfacing surfaces of the bushes.
