Abstract

860,626. Pipe couplings. AERO CONTROLS Ltd. Nov. 24, 1959 [April 23, 1959], No. 13868/59. Class 99(1). In a pipe coupling which allows limited degree of misalignment and limited relative axial movement between pipes a to be coupled, the coupling housing consists of similar cylindrical parts 3 having interengaging castellations 3a with outwardly projecting flanges 3b which between them form a circumferential groove with tapering side walls for the reception of a corresponding collar 5 attached by rivets 7 to a worm drive clip 8. As shown, sealing rings 2, axially spaced by a retainer 6 which engages the flared ends a1 of the pipes a, are located within a floating sleeve 4 in the housing and are compressed against the pipes a through gland washers 1 by inturned flanges at the outer ends of the housing when the clip 8 is tightened.
