891,384. Pipe joints. DOWTY ROTOL Ltd. Dec. 29, 1960, No. 44640/60. [Addition to 801,631]. Class 99(1). A coupling for joining a pair of pipe ends 12, 13 in fluid-tight manner comprises a pair of collars 3, 7 each of which is secured to a pipe short of its end, a sleeve 16 fitting the pipe end portions which project beyond the collars 3, 7, sealing rings 14, 15 interposed between each collar and the sleeve 16, and fastening means arranged to draw the collars together and maintain the sealing rings in compressive engagement with the collars and pipe ends. As shown, the fastening means comprises an external screw thread on collar 3 and a co-operating nut 9 which engages behind the collar 7.
