Abstract

631,086. Pipe couplings. HIGHPRESSURE COMPONENTS, Ltd., and WILLIAMS J. C. Nov. 25, 1947, No. 31231. [Class 99(i)] A combined inward and axial movement is imparted to a split, internally-tapered clamp 8 and a split externally-tapered collet 6 to grip a flexible pipe 2 between the collet and a spigot 1 forced into the bore of the pipe, by reason of co-operating inclined faces 11, 5 on the clamp and an annular projection 4 of the spigot respectively. An annular lip 13 may be formed on the collet to increase the effective grip on the pipe. The axial movement of the collet may be limited by a reduced portion 7 engaging in an annular recess of the projection 4 and the coupling may be adapted for use with armoured pipes.
