Abstract

926,201. Pipe joints. BRITISH ERMETO CORPORATION Ltd. Jan. 10, 1962 [Jan. 24, 1961], No. 2755/61. Class 99(1). A stuffing-box joint comprising a pipe socket 12, a union nut 14 and a deformable ring or thimble 16 includes a locking ring 20 which engages the union nut 14, and a ring member 18 engaging the pipe p adjacent the union nut. The locking ring 20 and ring member 18 are relatively adjustable axially of the pipe p and possess mutually engageable parts 21, 22 which are brought into engagement by adjustment of the members 18, 20 after the joint has been made. Thereby any outward force on pipe p is transferred to the union nut 14.
