Abstract

1,265,158. Pipe couplings. P. SADLER. 6 Oct., 1969 [1 Oct., 1968], No. 46475/68. Heading F2G. A pipe connector for coupling a pipe 29 to a socket 13 comprises a nut 10 with an inward flange 14 which co-operates with and acts on an axially slotted, recessed ferrule 11 so that the ferrule is contracted on to the pipe; the inner ends 21, 25 of the ferrule 11 and socket 13 respectively provide a seating for an 0-ring seal 12, which is compressed on to the pipe 29 by the screwing up of the nut 10. The outer end 18 of the ferrule 11 may be formed with an outward flange 22. The 0-ring seating faces 21, 25 may be frusto-conical inwardly as shown, or the face 25 may be flat, or the face 21 may be slightly frusto-conical outwardly.
