Abstract

1,260,970. Pipe coupling. HUNGARIA MAUANYAGFELDOLGOZO VALLALAT. 22 Oct., 1970, No. 50301/70. Heading F2G. A pipe coupling includes a male part 8 and a female part 1, the latter having an end flange 2, a first internal groove 5, a second internal groove 4 and a section having two diametrically opposed widened portions 7. The male part 8 has two corresponding diametrically opposed widened portions 9. The parts are coupled by inserting the male part 8 within the female part 1 having the portions 7, 9 aligned so that the latter may enter the first internal groove 5. The male part 8 is then rotated about its longitudinal axis. Stops 10b, which are larger than stops 10a, prevent the anti-clockwise rotation of the male part 8, as viewed in Fig. 2, and when the said part is rotated clockwise the stops 10a act as a locking device to hold the parts of the pipe coupling together. Stops 10b also act as a limit on the extent of the clockwise rotation. A sealing ring 3 may be included in the second internal groove 4. The parts 1, 8 may be arranged in various ways when applied to the construction of a pipe system, for example like or unlike parts may be located at the ends of given pipe sections or two female parts 1 may be fitted back-to-back to act as a junction piece. The coupling is preferably made of plastics and the coupling parts may be formed separately and welded to the ends of existing pipe sections or plain piping may have its ends shaped to produce the required coupling part.
