Abstract

1460864 Pipe joint SPERRYN & CO Ltd 13 June 1975 [14 March 1974] 11308/74 Heading F2G A pipe connector suitable for connecting first and second screw-threaded pipe elements is formed by passing a union nut 1 on to a tubular member 2 to abut a flange 5 at a first end thereof, before screwing a further flanged member 3 on to a second screw-threaded end 8 of the tubular member; which end is subsequently expanded radially to effect a permanent connection between said tubular and further members, respective flanges of which thereby hold said union nut captive. Preferably the second end of the tubular member is formed with an external screwthread and the further member with a compatible internal screw-thread; and a locking material is applied to at least one of the screwthreads before engagement and subsequent expansion by cold forming with a ball plunger of roller burning tool. The joint is formed preferably of brass.
