Abstract

An internally and externally threaded connector 1 forming a T junction on pipe 11 having a hole of diameter D1 has a saddle-shaped flange 8 having a diameter greater than D1 with diametrically opposed flats 9, Fig. 3 (not shown), spaced apart by a width less than D1 to enable the connector to be inserted through the hole into the pipe 11, and a collar 10 forming an annular recess to receive a sealing ring 3. The connector 1 is passed through the hole in pipe 11 and the sealing ring 3 is placed in the said recess and is compressed by a nut 4 having a flange 12 to stop radial expansion of the sealing ring 3. A second pipe can be screwed into the bore of the connector or on to the connector 1 to form a nut or a connecting piece (Fig. 1, not shown) may be screwed into the connector 1 and a second pipe screwed into the connecting piece or held frictionally by a compressed ring. The axes of the two pipes may be at a smaller angle than 90 degrees.
