Abstract

A side branch is added to an existing rubber or plastic hose by making a hole in the sidewall and introducing a branch pipe with a flange on the end which can clamp the tube wall against an external collar. The perforated hose may be fitted with a (screwed) sleeve to provide a flat surface standing proud of the main hose as a base for clamping the branch hose. Method is more secure than use of externally bonded saddle fittings and quicker than fitting revulcanised joints.
