Abstract
1296138 Pipe couplings TIROLER ROHREN-UND METALLWERKE AG 10 April 1970 [30 May 1969] 17186/70 Heading F2G A spigot pipe 1 and a socket pipe 2 are held together by locking segments 10 insertable between the inner face of a lip 7 of the socket and welded projections 4 on the spigot, the inner diameter of the lip having clearance over the outer surface of the projections and at least one part-circumferential recess being provided in the socket end for insertion of the segments. A recess of slightly greater circumferential length than the locking segments 10 is provided in the lip 7 and two projections 4 are provided in the spigot 1, diametrically opposed and on either side of the recess. Each locking segment 10 is inserted in the recess and then moved circumferentially to lock between the lip 7 and one of the projections 4 and a flange 11 to prevent over insertion, and an unwelded extension of each projection 4 is bent around the flange to hold the locking segment in position. The mating surfaces of the locking segments 10 and the lip 7 are part-spherical to accommodate angular misalignment of the pipes. A rubber seal 3 is provided between the spigot 1 and socket 2.
