Class 99 (i) A ring 10 -is seated internally against opposed shoulders, flares, or flanges 3, 4 formed on the ends of aligned pipes which are drawn together by a contractible, channel-section clamping ring 13 which engages the inclined surfaces 9 of rings 7, 8 located behind the shoulders. A pipe may be connected in a similar manner to an elbow, T-piece, or reducing fitting. The ring 10 may be serrated or grooved where it engages the pipe ends.
