590,303. Pipe couplings. EVERED & CO., Ltd., and PINKESS, L. H. April 18. 1945, No. 9659. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A coupling for plain, non-screw-threaded pipes incorporates a deformable sealing ring 8 of copper or other suitable metal having a U- shaped section, the side walls 8a of which fit into recesses 6c and 7b of a coupling member 6 and coupling nut 7 so that, on tightening the nut, the ring is deformed and exerts pressure on the pipe 4. The coupling means are duplicated when joining two plain pipes.
