Abstract
694,268. Pipe joints. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 25, 1952 [May 11, 1951], No. 11131/51. Class 99 (i). In a joint in which a wedge - shaped sealing ring 10 is compressed between a flared pipe end 3 and a plain spigot pipe end 1 under the action of interengaging screw-threaded rings 5, 7, the ring 7 has a tapered bore, the angle of taper being less than that of the flared pipe end over which the ring 7 is drawn as the joint is made up, tending to contract the flared end. A flange 12 on the sealing ring is received in a recess in the coupling ring 5.
